I finished my finals on Monday and headed home (to Naperville, IL) yesterday— I definitely enjoyed sleeping in until 11 this morning and waking up to fresh-baked pizzelles and cheesecake my mom made since we have relatives coming in tomorrow!
While this week promises to be relaxing, I also plan to make it a productive one. These past few weeks have been tirelessly busy and I haven’t had a chance to keep up with a lot of the blogs or news outlets I typically read, or to learn some of the media programs I purchased awhile ago. The goal for this week, specifically, is to get all of my blogs/social media sites connected and in (more attractive) working order, set up a timeline for everything I want to learn this summer, and read through the syllabus and all the reading material for Broadcast II, which is up on the Web site.
I’m excited to start Broadcast II on Monday— I’ll learn how to report, shoot, edit, produce, anchor… basically everything I’ve wanted to know about the world of television. I’ve learned a lot about print journalism and a little about radio in the past, so it’ll be nice to have a new experience. Last summer, I interned with CBS 2 Chicago’s Mike Puccinelli, which gave me a really exciting, enticing introduction to the world of broadcast, and I’m really glad to get some hands-on work done this summer!
Also, I want this blog to be more than here’s-what-I-did-today— my goal is to get some real discussion going RE: what’s going on in the world of journalism. So I’ll be discussing my thoughts on articles I read, developments I see, etc. Feel free to email me at erica.zucco@gmail.com or comment here if you have any suggestions!
Thanks!
